About Chris

Cinematographer & Filmmaker

Kia ora, I'm Chris Davison. I'm a cinematographer and filmmaker based in Aotearoa, New Zealand.

I work across documentary, commercial, broadcast television and adventure filmmaking, with a particular interest in stories connected to sport, adventure, conservation, sustainability and the natural world.

I bring a calm and adaptable approach to the camera department, with experience working underwater, aerial, in remote environments and as part of larger production crews. I'm equally comfortable working as a DOP or camera operator, or taking a more hands-on approach to developing and telling a story from the ground up.

I'm passionate about creating honest, cinematic imagery and capturing the moments that make a story worth watching.

A LITTLE ABOUT ME

I've always been drawn to work that gets me outside.

Before filmmaking, I worked as a scuba diving instructor, farmer, builder and in the yachting industry. I've always been drawn to the outdoors and challenging environments, and filmmaking became a way to combine those experiences with my love of storytelling.

Since studying film at South Seas in 2022, I've worked across everything from small independent projects to larger commercial, television and broadcast productions.
